Join conservators and conservation graduate students from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation for a hands-on workshop about how to care for your cherished objects in hazardous flood conditions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn a variety of processes from freezing and drying books to safely removing heavy, wet textiles from flood waters.
Offered in partnership with the University of Delaware’s Disaster Research Center, this workshop commemorates the 60th anniversary of the devastating 1966 Florence Flood. This event prompted conservators from around the world to collaborate and recover books, sculptures, paintings, and other important cultural heritage.
