Death creates an absence, but mourning can bring people together— especially when community participation is encouraged. Join MacLaren M. Remy, University of Delaware M.A. student and Winterthur Library graduate assistant, to learn about the variety of material culture associated with mourning customs, including their commercialization and ties to national identity through their manifestation in memorial art, including pins, tattoos, stationery, and more. This event is hybrid and can be attended in-person at the Winterthur Library or via Zoom.
