Planned Giving

The Port Royal Society was established to recognize those donors who have continued the generous legacy of Henry Francis du Pont by remembering Winterthur in their estate plans. The name of this premier donor group comes from a historic eighteenth-century house in Philadelphia. In 1931, Henry Francis du Pont rescued important architectural elements from Port Royal, which was slated for demolition, and had them installed at Winterthur as the primary entry and reception room. The Port Royal Entrance Hall and Parlor encapsulate how vision and planning can create a tangible legacy. These gifts bolster Winterthur's collections, garden and library. There are many ways to make legacy gifts to Winterthur.

Examples of planned gifts that have enhanced Winterthur’s programming and mission:

  • The Daniel and Serga Nadler Collection of Chinese Export Porcelain
  • The Saul Zalesch Collection of American Ephemera and the Saul Zalesch Endowed Fund for American Ephemera
  • The Arthur D. Robson Collection of American Furniture
  • The Wilhelmina Laird Craven Charitable Lead Annuity
