Bank to Bend

Celebrate the late winter garden and the early spring bulb display of the March Bank with a lecture, tour, and sales of rare and unusual plants. The guest speaker this year will be Chris Lane of Witch Hazel Nurseries in Kent, UK.  During the 11:00 am lecture, he will discuss the remarkably beautiful Asian witch hazel hybrids, their origins, and what is new within this important group of winter interest plants.  During the 2:00 pm lecture, he will discuss the exuberant flowering cherry, with its cascades of pink and white petals, and its history and the appeal of these stunning flowering trees. $20; $10 per Member. Daffodil Day
Saturday, April 18, 2020

Celebrate the beauty of the daffodils and enjoy Winterthur’s amazing daffodil display! HF du Pont used his collector’s eye in assembling his collection of hundreds of heirloom daffodil bulbs arranged in cloud-like drifts on Sycamore Hill. The day’s events will include tours, kids’ crafts, and a daffodil show. Included with general admission. Members free.

10:00 am (entries accepted through 11:00 am): Children’s Daffodil Show held in the Brown Center.
11:30 am and 1:30 pm: Guided tour of Daffodils. Begins at Visitor Center Patio.
Self-guided tours throughout the day.

 

Azaleas and Bluebells
Saturday, May 9, 2020

Enjoy the spectacle of thousands of azalea blossoms and acres of wildflowers! The day’s events will include photo opportunities, plant sales, brunch (reservations required) and tours of the azaleas – both self-guided and led by staff/volunteers. Included with general admission. Members free.

11:30 am and 1:30 pm: Guided tour of Azaleas. Begins at Visitor Center Patio.
All day: Azalea plant sale. Cottage Gift Shop.
Self-guided tours throughout the day.
