DESCRIPTION:This interactive and performative art piece will fill the Transformations: Contemporary Artists at Winterthur exhibition gallery as the factory-made Womb Chair is retooled with premade felted “puffs” and advanced embroidery stitches\, re-centering experiences of female labor and an aesthetic marker of modern design under the direction of Kirin Joya Makker\, lead artist and professor of American Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
