JOB TITLE: Sales Associate Part Time Temp

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sales Associate provides key, critical, and personal contact with customers in order to assure a high level of satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business. He/she contributes to the financial success of the store by learning about how the merchandise is related to Winterthur and working with the sales staff in selling and servicing the merchandise needs of customers at a pre-eminent level.
Assist customers in finding gifts, plants, accessories, furniture and try to interest them in buying the merchandise. Increase customers product knowledge of both merchandise and Winterthur Museum. Responsible for meeting the customers needs by listening to the customer, discerning what they want and knowing how to skillfully guide the customer to a sales decision, thereby assisting in meeting store sales goals which are assigned daily.
Must ensure courteous, professional and efficient service, offer and provide customers with services, such as gift wrap and shipping of merchandise.
The Sales Associate 1 also receives cash, checks, and charge payments; and is trained on the utilization of an automated cash register, bagging or packaging purchases; counting money, and giving out change and receipts. Depending on the hours, the Sales Associates 1 may have to open or close cash registers.
Adhere to and complete necessary administrative and supplemental assigned tasks (i.e. dusting, polishing silver, restocking sales floor, and moving merchandise) as assigned. He/she consistently exhibits a positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm, and cooperates with other team members. The Sales Associates 1 is expected to keep their work areas neat. They may help with marking price tags, taking inventory, and preparing displays, and must be aware of special sales and promotions. They are also aware of security risks and thefts and are trained on how to handle or prevent such situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum knowledge/skills: Strong interpersonal, phone and cash register skills, good ability comprehend and follow directions, strong customer service skills, good ability to work in a team environment, some knowledge of selling merchandise, able to work in a busy store environment, flexible schedule. Minimum experience: 1-3 years in the retail or customer service positions.
