Winterthur brings American material culture to life. Our comprehensive collection of American decorative arts allows students to explore the social, political, and cultural context of the 17th through the 19th centuries. The historic architecture, paintings, sculpture, folk art, and household objects tell fascinating stories about American life, including those of craftsmanship and trade, art, leisure, everyday life, women's work and the lives of children.

Discover the exciting learning opportunities that can be tailored to your students needs! Programs can include gallery walks, orientation presentations, hands-on activities, guided tours of the period rooms, and even a "behind-the-scenes" look at our conservation labs and library.

Programs are offered Tuesday through Saturday. Special arrangements can be made for a program on Sunday.
