| Greetings!
Winterthur Licensed Products has a
lot of news to share, from new
partnerships to new products
and interesting projects!
In May we announced our
licensing agreement with Connor Homes of
Middlebury, Vermont. The first line of
historically authentic, architecturally detailed,
"mill-built" Winterthur homes is now on the
drawing boards. Recently Scott Potter Designs joined
our team of licensees. The first collection
of Scott Potter's exquisite handmade decoupage
inspired by Winterthur will debut at the New York
International Gift Fair in August.
The exhibition Betsy Ross: The Life Behind
the Legend will open at Winterthur
on October 2. The show examines the
life and work of the celebrated flagmaker and
upholsterer. Discover the real Betsy Ross and
learn about the origins of the legend of a
simple seamstress honored by an unexpected chance
to contribute to the independence movement.

Connor
Homes visits Winterthur to research plans for
first Winterthur Home
collection
On June 3 and 4, Winterthur
welcomed Michael Connor, Holly Kelton, Avery
Hamilton, and Joel Dow from Connor Homes of Middlebury,
Vermont. Connor Homes was recently
granted an exclusive license to design
historically authentic homes inspired by
Winterthur's extensive archives and architecture
found on the estate. During their visit,
Connor Homes toured Winterthur's grounds,
documenting several buildings on the estate, and
spent hours in the Winterthur Library,
examining documents and photographs in
the Archives.

Scott Potter
Designs

Made in his studio in Portland,
Maine, Scott Potter's handmade
decoupage reflects the artist's eye for the
refined and dramatic. Carefully selected
prints are interestingly arranged and adorned
with gold, platinum, and colored gilding on
handmade papers from around the
world.
Scott Potter has
chosen beautifully colored images from the
Winterthur Library to interpret for his first
collection as a Winterthur licensee. The
handmade designs will be introduced at the New
York International Gift Fair, August 15-19, 2010,
Javits Center booth 9212.

People
Kay Young

Winterthur Licensed Products is
happy to have Kay Young on board as copy
writer. Kay is responsible for preparing
educational copy for each and every licensed
product approved by Winterthur, providing the
interesting stories behind the design sources for
Winterthur reproductions, adaptations, and
interpretations. She works closely with
staff curators and editors to provide accurate
histories and information. As a Winterthur
master interpreter, Kay is also available to lead
focused group tours.

Kay's 27 years of involvement with
the Winterthur collection make her a wonderful
source of knowledge about collection pieces, the
estate, and H. F. du Pont. She first joined
Winterthur as a museum guide, then worked as a Yuletide program assistant,
and a specialist in interpretation and
training. In 2001, Kay became an assistant
curator of education and from 2002 to 2007 she
served as manager of museum tours and
guides. |
Revenue generated by the
sale of licensed
products supports the educational,
preservation, and research programs of Winterthur
Museum. |
