Winterthur After Hours: Mix, Relax, and Explore
First Thursday of Every Month
Join us for live music, our beer garden, a variety of food selections, and other offerings at Winterthur After Hours, including our first-ever garden exhibition, Follies: Architectural Whimsy in the Garden. Each After Hours will be located in the beautiful Winterthur landscape, so you can explore the Galleries and grounds. $10 per Member. $15 per nonmember. $5 per student. 13 and under are free. After Hours program entry is a $10 nonmember upgrade with the purchase of an earlier, same-day General Admission ticket.
June 7 * Clenny Run
Featuring The Stonethrowers
Join us along Clenny Run stream for an evening opportunity to explore Winterthur’s grounds, galleries, and beer garden. Soak in the sounds of Marc Silver’s Americana band, The Stonethrowers, which blends a passion for original and traditional songs with a unique mix of country and popular music. After Hours on Clenny Run are BYO (Bring-your-own) items. Museum Store will be open.
At 6:30 pm, please join Chris Strand, director of garden and estate, Winterthur, for a 30-minute walking tour of featured garden follies in Winterthur’s new exhibition, Follies: Architectural Whimsy in the Garden. Tour participants will gather at the entrance to the cottage store.
July 5 * Reflecting Pool
Featuring Los Montros
Join us at the Reflecting Pool for an evening opportunity to explore the Galleries and grounds and enjoy our beer garden! Listen to the music of Los Montros, a versatile, multi-ethnic combination of musicians who are dedicated to embracing the roots of the Latin/Tropical sound.
At 6:30 pm, please join Jeff Groff, director of interpretation and estate historian, Winterthur, for a 30-minute walking tour of the East Terrace and Conservatory area. Learn about the entertaining that happened here in the era of the du Pont family, including debutante parties, weddings, and other glittering social events. Tour participants will gather at the Reflecting Pool fountain.
August 2 * Reflecting Pool
Featuring Buffalo Chip & The Heard
Enjoy a relaxed summer evening along our Reflecting Pool and listen to the sounds of Buffalo Chip & The Heard, a Delaware-based acoustic trio, which covers everything from Bluegrass to Jazz. The evening will also include guided garden strolls at 6:15 and 7:15 pm. Lauren Fair, associate objects conservator, Winterthur, and assistant affiliated faculty for the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation, will take you on a stroll through the garden and Reflecting Pool area. Lauren will discuss objects on display and recent conservation work as part of a larger museum effort to restore sections of the garden to H. F. du Pont's 20th-century garden decorating designs.

On all other Thursdays, June–August, join us to stroll through the Follies exhibition or to take a twilight tram tour of the exhibition. Twilight trams will be offered every half hour from the Visitor Center until sunset. Weather permitting and space available. Members free. $10 per nonmember.
Follies Summer Cocktail Party
Thursday, June 21
In celebration of Winterthur’s first outdoor exhibition, Follies: Architectural Whimsy in the Garden, join us for a special summer solstice party—follies style! You can eat, drink, and explore with our progressive cocktail party, which will feature cocktail and food pairings throughout the exhibition. In addition, the evening will include a beer garden at the Visitor Center and tram tours of the follies. Follies will not be visible once dusk sets in, so get there in plenty of time to walk the exhibition! Purchase tickets online or call 800.448.3883. Food and drink pairings are available 6:00–8:30 pm, $23 per person ($25 if purchased after June 18). Rain Date June 28.
