Library Photography Services

Images of items from the Winterthur Library collections are available to researchers in the form of black and white prints, color slides, and color transparencies. New photography takes a minimum of four weeks, and processing existing photography takes three weeks. Rush orders incur a surcharge.

Requests are accepted in person or by phone, fax, letter, or e-mail. A form requesting permission to publish is also available. Rates vary, depending on the format requested, the need for original photography, and the user's commercial or nonprofit status or affiliation to Winterthur.

Duplication of large-format materials, such as maps or blueprints, is handled off-site and must be scheduled to accommodate the time of both library staff and employees of the off-site company.

Winterthur is developing policies to govern the scanning and reproduction of images in electronic format.
