| Once Upon a Family | Explore the spaces where the du Pont family played, worked, and entertained. This fun, interactive tour is designed especially for families with children ages 4–11. | Antiques & Architecture | View American furnishings from the 1600s to the 1800s in the inviting rooms designed by H. F. du Pont. | Winterthur Then and Now | This tour features the magnificent garden as well as several floors of the house. It focuses on the life of the du Pont family in the first half of the 20th century, the development of the collection of American decorative arts, and the evolution of a private estate into a public resource. | Estate Tour | Visit the former dairy and farm while exploring the ever-changing estate landscape on this narrated tram tour led by a specially-trained guide. Glimpse behind the scenes, hear accounts of estate history, and see how we have repurposed historic work areas. The 45- minute tour will leave from the east circle near the Dorrance Gallery. | Private Tours | Ask about our Private Tours and have a custom tour of the house or study a particular aspect of Henry Francis du Pont’s magnificent collection. | Conservation | Go into any major museum in America and odds are good that the conservators who care for the collections trained at Winterthur. Tour the world-famous conservation laboratories where works of art and antiquity are examined, studied, and cared for by expert conservators. For families with children under 8 years old, Winterthur offers many fun alternatives. Kids can explore the Touch-It Room, grab a backpack and read, visit the Hands on History Cart (Saturdays), and roam the Enchanted Woods!
