Terrific Tuesdays will explore Winterthur collection objects and the garden this summer. In July, kids will explore how objects in the Winterthur collection were made and how they are cared for today. Each week will focus on a different medium, such as wood, metals, ceramics, and textiles. Conservators and local craftsmen will demonstrate their skills each week.
Themes and crafts for July include:
July 7: Ceramics—Crafts will include clay whistle making, in painting ceramic tiles, and a ceramic puzzle.
July 14: Metals —Crafts will include creating a paper sconce, cleaning pennies, and engraving metals to create jewelry.
July 21: Textiles—Crafts will include making a paper quilt square to put into one large quilt, explaining light damage using UV beads, and making a textile weave out of paper.
July 28: Wood—Crafts will include making a popsicle stick frame, painting a wood inlay onto a snap bracelet, and playing a board game to explain properties about wood.
