The term art has been much contested over time. Once defined as a great skill, the word later became associated with beauty and personal expression. View exquisite works that explore the connection between art and embroidery over four centuries.


 

Striking Beauties: American Shelf Clocks and Timepieces

This exhibition features 16 examples of American bracket, shelf and table clocks designed for use in the home and made between 1775 and 1850.

Enjoy an eye-catching display of select ceramic vases and floral-decorated wares from the Winterthur collection dating from the 1700s and 1800s and produced in America, Europe, and Asia.

 

The Winterthur Library also features special displays of library collection items. All exhibitions are included with admission and are free to Winterthur Members.
